iCONECT Tackles International Litigation MarketLos Angeles, CA (July 31, 2008) iCONECT Development, LLC, a world leader in litigation support and collaboration software, announced the addition of international language review in the latest release of its flagship products iCONECTnXT and iCONECTeXT. This will enable corporate and law firm legal teams worldwide to search, edit, review, report, export and print documents that contain text from over 250 languages including simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Punjabi, and Russian. iCONECT’s software will now be compatible with language characters used by approximately 3.6 billion people across the globe in addition to the 1.7 billion speakers of the 20 Latin languages already supported by iCONECT’s software. "The ability to handle multilingual datasets, especially in languages of Eastern Europe, Asia and the Middle East, as part of discovery efforts is key to supporting any cross-border dispute in today's global economy," said George Rudoy, Director of Global Practice Technology & Information Services at Shearman & Sterling LLP. "Proficiency of this technology to display, search, categorize, review and produce documents in their native languages will provide our attorneys with a competitive advantage to represent our global clients." iCONECT software enables secure web-based access to a centralized document collection from anywhere in the world, typically for a legal dispute. With the addition of Unicode compatibility, a document collection that contains any language covered by Unicode can be searched and reviewed in the native language using all the time-saving features iCONECT provides, including advanced search options as well as native file and e-mail review features. This will save costs for firms that are currently forced to do a page-by-page onsite review or translate documents to English before reviewing foreign language documents. Other key features include support for multiple languages in the same document such as e-mails sent between international parties where each person wrote in their native language and the ability for English speaking attorneys to make searchable notes on a foreign document. Organizational folders can also be in foreign languages to accommodate international reviewers. Native files that contain Unicode data can also be viewed without third party software or tools. "By enabling search and review to be performed without translation, our clients will see enormous cost savings on international cases," said Cynthia Williams, Chief Executive Officer for iCONECT Development, LLC. "iCONECT software now promises to be the most comprehensive solution in the marketplace for working with multilingual documents." iCONECT's latest Unicode version will be available through iCONECT's worldwide network of application service providers (ASPs) – the most extensive of its kind in the industry. ASPs offer hosting with iCONECT software as a key component of their overall e-discovery offering to law firms, government and corporations. Please contact us to learn more.
